Programme overview

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Universitas Airlangga offers the International Undergraduate Programme (IUP) in Accounting (IUP in Accounting). FEB Universitas Airlangga was founded officially in 1961 through the Minister of Higher Education and Science Decree No. 31/1961. However, its origin can be traced back to 1954. Considering its long history, FEB Universitas Airlangga is, therefore, one of the oldest Faculty of Economics and Business in Indonesia. Moreover, as the assurance of its high quality, it has received national and international recognition through several accreditations.

IUP in Accounting provides cutting-edge knowledge and skills needed for whom who has an aspiration to have careers in public and private companies, government, businesses and industries, universities, and not-for-profit institutions. As accounting knowledge and skills are needed in all types of organisations, companies, and institutions, the employment opportunities for accounting graduates are numerous.

Programme Objectives and Desired Outcomes

The programme objectives are to produce accounting graduates who:

  • have a deep understanding of conceptual knowledge and applicative skills in the accounting field.
  • have critical, analytical, and systematic thought and skills.
  • can apply their knowledge and skills morally and ethically.

Programme Structure

To earn an undergraduate/bachelor’s degree in accounting, students must fulfil the programme requirements. These requirements include having earned 144 credits and a minimum GPA of 2,00. The required total credits to graduate can usually be completed in seven or eight semesters (3,5 – 4 years). Upon the completion of the programme, graduates will be awarded Sarjana Akuntansi (S.A.) or equivalent to Bachelor of Accounting degree.

Majors and Minors

Accounting is the only major in IUP in Accounting. However, in the seventh and eighth semester, students can take elective courses that will help to develop their minor such as forensic auditing, information system auditing, performance measurement, valuation, data analytics, and governmental accounting, among others.

Accounting itself is a unique field because it combines conceptual and practical knowledge, data, and information technologies. Moreover, the programme has a close relationship with the accounting professions and industries. The lecturers who teach in this programme are highly qualified and active both in academics and industries. Therefore, what students will learn in class is not only conceptual things but also real and practical applications of accounting.

Career Opportunities

A career prospect of a Bachelor of Accounting graduates is highly prospective. Graduates mainly work as accountants and auditors both in private, public, and government institutions. Besides that, graduates are also able to work as:
